My heart is set on...

What is it that your heart is really set on? I guess the REAL answer is whatever you spend the most time doing.  I wonder if my statement would accurately read any of the following:

"My heart is set on 'laying on the couch watching TV'."

"My heart is set on 'spending time on the internet'."

"My heart is set on 'playing golf'."

"My heart is set on 'pleasing people'."

"My heart is set on 'being selfish'."

See, for me, I often don't acknowledge reality.  I could easily think my heart is set on something that it isn't.  How do I know?

The old saying is true, "Whatever has your heart....has you."  And the only true way to measure what has you is how you spend your money and your time.

So - what is your heart set on?

The psalmist in psalm 119:112 tells us what his heart is set on:

"My heart is set on keeping your decrees...to the very end."

I love that - '...to the very end...' He leaves no room for compromise.

So...

What exactly is your heart set on.....to the very end?

31 DAYS

January 1st always brings with it a new desire to 'resolve' something in our lives.  That is why we make New Years Resolutions!  And it only makes sense because a new year means a new you.

Well, new year's resolutions never have worked for me so I've decided to start early. Just to switch things up a bit.  Maybe it will help?

For the next 31 days, I'm challenging myself to a couple of things.  They consist of spiritual growth and physical health. Here they are:

Spiritual

I'm challenging myself to read one chapter of Proverbs each day and journal anything that stands out.

I also will be working my way through Psalm 119.  It is the longest psalm and the entire psalm speaks to the importance of the Word of God. I need this. I need to be reminded that everything I do should be filtered though the lens of God's Word.  (yes, even pastors must return to the basics)

Physical

No Soda/Cut down on fattening foods

Cardio for 20 minutes a day

And that's it - simple really.  Let me explain why I'm really doing this.  One word.

DISCIPLINE

I need more of it in my life.  Really, we all do in one area or another.  I read Proverbs 1 already and guess what - the world 'discipline' was used three times in the first seven verses. I think I may be on track.  Care to join me?
